It is amazing that a person with 1963 postings on this website has the time to even have sex! And you all fall for it! Good move Goblin, once people are mad at you you come up with some sweet news and break everyone's heart. Oh! I am so moved. Another baby for a father who spends most of his day behind his computer screen is great, wonderful news. At least Allister will finally have someone to play with him after all! (Yeap I sound like a bitch but the truth needs a bitch to be known. Think people, think! 1963 postings and 2 kids. Do the math.)

I do hate the way it's called math over there. It's maths and we were calling it maths long before the US existed, do the maths.

I call Math Maths actually, see my LJ...

Post 22 by rdfreak (THE ONE AND ONLY TRUE-BLUE KANGA-KICKIN AUSIE) on Saturday, 19-Feb-2005 19:28:24

yes I'll never understand why it's called Math" go LL! :)

Post 23 by Star (Honorary Bitch of the Zone) on Saturday, 19-Feb-2005 21:34:27

Well LL, you have spoken like a true British Empiricist ... only the Empire has long ceased to exist and your British English does not apply to the Americas any more. Math is short for either mathematics or mathematic (singular and/or plural). Now that you know, go do the math!

Post 24 by lawlord (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Sunday, 20-Feb-2005 7:48:47

Empiricist? dear me, star, before you start giving me english lessons, you really ought to choose your words with slightly more precision. Empiricist? Is that really what you meant, as in a disciple of empirical methods in the Jeremy bentham sense? I rather think not. I think the word you were angrily groping for was imperialist; that's right, isn't it? As for the empire itself, I do not yearn for a return thereto, but the fact is that the rest of the world, as Rdfreak has admirably demonstrated, call it maths, not math! now, for a country who struggle even to count the votes at election-time, it is you, and not we, who need to examine the maths. Indeed, maths is vital in evaluating empirical research, it's one of the most vital tools of the empiricist's trade - empiricists being quite different, of course, from those who yearn for the return to empire who are, of course, imperialists rather than empiricists.
